AMSA LogoWe are once again teaming with the American Moving and Storage Association to bring you two of their prominent seminars.  AMSA will be hosting these this year and they will again be offering their “Claims 101 – Basic Claims Training” and their “Military Claims” seminars.   The “Claims 101” seminar does offer an optional “Certified Claims and Arbitration” certification by test at the end of the course.  Full details of the seminars can be found below.  Combining one of these seminars with your CPPC 2012 Workshop attendance will allow you to save on separate travel expenses. The seminars are each one day that will take place on Thursday April 26th, preceding the beginning of the CPPC workshop on Friday, April 27th.  These seminars are optional and separate from the CPPC Workshop fees.  The cost for either seminar is AMSA’s standard fee for their members - $159.00, which includes all your class materials and a working lunch.  To register for this event, connect direct to the appropriate page on the AMSA web site www.promover.org under the “Training’ tab. Both seminars are conducted at same time; so it would not be possible for one person to attend both.

AMSA touts their “Claims 101” seminar as good for someone new to the industry, new Dave Hauensteinto interstate claims procedures or just someone wanting a refresher in claims management. This popular one day seminar presented by Dave Hauenstein, AMSA’s Vice President for Compliance and Government Affairs, covers COD claims, valuation, basic customer service, claim settlement strategies and how to best use mandatory arbitration program. Attendees practice settling claims and review arbitration case studies. At the conclusion, participants have the option of taking the Certified Claims and Arbitration exam and those who pass become Certified Claims Analysts.(CCA) This class concentrates on COD shipments and does not cover Military or GSA claims. This class has been presented in tandem with one of our previous workshops and was extremely well received.  Even people taking this seminar several years ago have found it beneficial as a refresher course.

kevin spealmanAMSA’s “Military Training”seminar will be presented by Kevin Spealman, General Manager of National Claims Service.  It covers many of the ins and outs of doing business with the military and what must happen during the claims process. The seminar will include information on settling military claims in DPS, legal principles as outlined in the 400NG and DOHA Decisions, hands-on practice in claims settlement, and new, hot topics impacting military claims.  Kevin works these claims on a daily basis and comes with a wealth of knowledge, as the instructor for this seminar. Kevin is a long time member of the CPPC as well.  With the ever changing Military claims processing, many members who have taken this seminar previously, have found it very beneficial to their working with the Military on their claims.

Again, registration for these seminars is done direct through AMSA on their website.  A link can also be found in the workshop information contained on the CPPC web site at www.claimsnet.org .
